New Contact Group button is disabled

My computer is a Dell Studio 1558 with 6 Gb of memory running on Win 7 Home premium.
I decided, for the first time, to create a Contact Group in Outlook 2013 only to notice that the corresponding button is grayed out.
I have not been able to enable this option.

found this: Contacts group option is not available for Exchange ActiveSync accounts. So check your account type. I am pretty sure it is an Exchange ActiveSync account. If it is, then reconfigure it as POP or IMAP account.
