Local storage to local storage migration

Hi,

I have two hosts with virtual machines on their local storage.  I want to migrate a VM from one host to another.  This would be local storage to local storage.  There is no shared storage in the environment.

Is there a tool that will do this easily? or would I have to manually copy files over?

Are your servers managed by vCenter Server, if so you can use the Migrate option, and select a new host and datastore, and then wait.

otherwise:-

you can use Veeam

HOW TO: "Live Migrate" VMware Virtual Machines between ESX/ESXi hosts and/or datastores for FREE without licenses for vMotion or Storage vMotion

or perform a V2V using "VMware Converter"

HOW TO: FAQ VMware P2V Troubleshooting

HOW TO:  P2V, V2V for FREE - VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5

or Export and Import

Part 10: HOW TO: Backup (Export) and Restore (Import) virtual machines to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 for FREE

So lots of methods.

Thanks.  I'm using veeam free edition and it looks like it will work fine.
