Dropbox files can't be opened, copied or moved

We have a user that does a lot of work in Dropbox.  She can't do anything with the files.  I have no idea where to start looking for the problem.

Is her machine encrypted?
Is she able to open the local Dropbox folder in her documents and move files in there? or is the issue simply online?

not encrypted.  The problem is local, she hasn't tested online I don't believe, but I'll find out.  I have her information so I'm going to install her box on another computer
