network card in linux

hi guys,

I was wondering how to enable network cards in linux with dhcp? i have tried this and i have also tried to vi the interfaces file, but no luck...

ifconfig eth0 up

you have to modify your dhcp.conf file. Here is a Link that will help you configure your NIC for DHCP.

What flavor of linux are you using?

You can just make sure the netork interface is up:

ifconfig eth0 up

Then use dhclient command to ask for a dhcp address:

dhclient

i am using ubuntu
dhclient will work on Ubuntu.
