copy entire instance to another instance on same server

What is the best efficient way to copy entire instance to another instance in a new upper SQL version, but still keep the older instance.

example: there is a 2008R2 instance with 11 databases. on the same sql server, we need to install a 2012 instance and make it exactly the same as 2008.
(same database/users/logins/permissions etc).

(we don't want to upgrade in-place from 2008 to 2012. for sometime, both will be running in parallel.)

thanks
Microsoft SQL Server 2008
