Accessing files in a VMDK file?

Hello,

Say I made a copy of a VMDK file on one of our hosts that seems to have some sort of integrity issue, is there a way of opening this file on my laptop and extracting some of it's important contents to make a backup of them?

thanks

Both answers were the best solution, but lol I can't actually choose that, so I have arbitrarily selected one as the best and awarded equal points.

thanks for the answers.
