Unable to install MS Office 2010 on Windows 7

Unable to install MS Office 2010 on Windows 7 -  both are for 64bit. Have updated Windows, checked all spec requirements. Gets "Microsoft Visual C++ error, program tried to close in an unusual way"  error.

MS Office 64-Bit is probably not a good idea.  Even MS says so.  Try the 32-bit version, I have successfully installed on over a hundred Windows 7 Enterprise 32-Bit & 64-Bit.
Uninstall first using Microsoft Fix It. Restart. Then install the 32 bit version.

So why they do sell 64 bit versions?

I've installed W7/64 bit and Office 2010 64 bit without problems. BUT nothing was installed in between these two software packages...

Well, repair.  Problem still?  Remove. Restart. Reinstall.
