HP Probook 6555b webcam problem
Hey,
I surfed the Internet about this problem, & it seems others are having the same problem I'm having w/ the web cam w/ the HP ProBook 6555b.
I installed Windows 7 32x because I work for a college, & re image our laptops/PCs w/ the college's customized image; however, for some reason the laptop doesn't Windows doesn't even see the web cam.
I've updated the BIOS to the latest version, but even more puzzling, there is no web cam listed in the BIOS.
This is going on w/ more than 1 6555b, which leads me to think this isn't a problem w/ the particular laptop I've been working w/; instead all 6555bs seem to have problems; at least when you reimage a 6555b. I can see the 6555b has a webcam on top of the laptop.
I think the web cam is a realtek but not sure what model camera it is. The realtek driver you download from 6555b support page seems to install fine, & the install seems to go through successfully, but there's still no camera. You try to install the web cam software, & says no web cam found or something along those lines.
My thought if the camera isn't listed in the BIOS there is no web cam w/ this particular model 6555b.

Sorry I've been out of town, but this issue has to be one of the toughest ones I've dealt w/.
It'd seem too odd to have the webcam lens & all but no actual web cam in the laptop. I'm not sure if it's possible to order a 6555b laptop w/o a camera on the motherboard.
I'm not sure if this will help any, but I've tried to use SIW home 2011 to look over what's on the motherboard, but I still don't see anything that looks like a webcam to me.
I took screen shots from SIW to hopefully display all the PCs devices, & SIW does a fairly good job, but still don't see anything that seems to me to be a webcam.
I've included the screen shots in a zip file.

you have to look in device manager - and check if it is installed there
