Check Box compatibility Word 2013 - 2007

We recently upgraded to Office 2013 Pro Plus O365 subscription.  We have hundreds of forms using checkboxes which users fill out regularly.  Some users are on 2010 and some on 2007.

The problem is that forms which were edited (other text not the checkboxes) in 2013 become uncheckable in 2007 but not 2010.  they can see the checkbox on 2007 but not click them.

We tried the compatibility wizard and after running this the checkboxes no longer are clickable in any version.

Obvious answer is upgrade to 2007 but does anyone have any solutions?  Not getting any help from the MS forums on this as of yet.

Thank you.  I am getting back with the user on this.  He is going to give me a sample after trying the different types of chekboxes to see which is the problem.

You were correct.  Switching to another type (Legacy ActiveX) solved the issue.  Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that, but regret to hear that the form controls are now unusable.
