HTTP server and servlet container

http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/7/api/javax/servlet/http/HttpSession.html

public interface HttpSession
Provides a way to identify a user across more than one page request or visit to a Web site and to store information about that user.
The servlet container uses this interface to create a session between an HTTP client and an HTTP server.

I was going through the oracle  link on HTTP Session. I did not understand difference between HTTP server and servlet container.
please advice

difference between HTTP server and servlet container. please advice

HTTP Server is built to handle requests/response. for example you're access some pages/links to the server and receiving as page/output.
Servlet Container is designed to compile java servlet programs and execute it
