Graphics card options
It was recently suggested that I "get a pcie graphics card with ddr3", but there are so many and there is a huge price range! I want all I need, but I don't want to buy more than I need.
I don't play video games; I do a lot of video editing, and Photoshoping. I need a card that will handle the video editing.
I use Adobe's Premiere Elements and Cyberlink's Power Director 12.
I am running win7 on a 64bit system; with plans to upgrade to 8

Great answer; I will check out these options. thanks
Read the product descriptions carefully because some of those are meant for video wall AKA huge multiple monitors and that's probably not your thing. Make sure your existing monitor(s) have the right kind of connection (DVI vs HDMI, etc) for whichever card. Also read the reviews for what other people use each one for. I don't know your budget but in the $400-$500 range any of the Quadro 2000 or FirePro W5xxx will probably knock your socks off.

Ok, thanks for the f/u. I was hoping not to have to go to the high range; but I need to get the best out of my editor and right now just scrubbing is a hassle; because it drags and jerks and slows to a crawl. I'm maxing out my memory and plan to install a ssd.
I plan to check reviews but I need to reduce the number of option, and on that site I found 21 Fire and Quadro options and I didn't even check the ones in the $50 range. I guess I shouldn't even consider anything under $200.00.

My mistake; It turns out I didn't look far enough down the PowerDirector spec page. It lists:
NVIDIA:
GeForce 8500GT/9800GT and above
GeForce GT/GTS/GTX 200/400/500/600 Series
This means their program is happy enough with "desktop" class and does not need the more expensive "workstation" class. So your budget is in luck!
Pick something from this list instead:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600030348%20600007782%20600315498&IsNodeId=1&name=GeForce%20GTX%20600%20series
If you select sort by 'best rating' two of them at $209 are both 5 star (An MSI and an EVGA) and those two brands are both excellent.
