SSL Client authentication and ActiveMQ

On this site:

http://activemq.apache.org/how-do-i-use-ssl.html

The document states:

Instruct ActiveMQ to require client authentication but setting the following in activemq.xml:

Open in new window

<transportConnectors>
  <transportConnector name="ssl" uri="ssl://localhost:61617?needClientAuth=true" />
</transportConnectors>

Open in new window

So what happens if I leave this out.

Since this line is for client authentication, if I leave this out, will the transmission still be SSL encrypted?  (In other words, is the only thing that happens if I leave this out is taht my client will not require authentication from the server, but the SSL transmission will still proceed )

Thanks
