Moving a Windows SBS 2011 Server to New HW (Best Practice, Best Plan)

have client server running on very slow processor "older" technology unit
SBS 2011 with on-premise Exchange
want to get this moved to another box
** I was thinking of adding another server to the domain and move exchange over to it and make the unit a DC in the domain
**Backup current system; build new server name it same and restore
Any and all help would greatly appreciated

The built in software backup should allow you to do a bare metal restore to the new box.

As for slow .Exchange isn't all that processor intensive ,it's I/O intensive.
Faster (caching disk controller ) along with the right raid levels ,can make a slow system a fast one.
