scansnap menu options all greyed out.
Hi! I have a Fujitsu scansnap S1300i scanner. I am having trouble with some of the features.

1. I scan documents regularly. I have it set up so it creates a pdf file. I get the otion to file th epdf and rename. This works for me most of the time. However, I would like to occasionally scan a photo or series of photos. When I do this now, it creates a pdf document with the photo inside. I don't want a pdf document. I want a jpg file. How do I set up the scanner so it KNOWS this is a photo needs to be treated differently than a document?

2. I would like to initiate scanning using my mobile phone. I have downloaded the Scansnap connect app and set it up on my phone. I have also set up scan to mobile on my laptop. both phone and computer are connected to the same network. I can sync Enpass app with my phone so I know there is a connection. However, the phone app is telling me there is no connection. I tried inputting the IP address manually and still no connection. I also disable my firewall. Still no connection.

3. In the System Tray icon, I get the option of simplex or duplex scanning. When I click simplex it only scans ones side. This is helpful when I want to scan only front side of pages. However, I would like to set up other options using the tray icon. I'd like to be able to scan photos as jpg files instead of the pdf files it is set up to do. Is there a way of setting up several scanning profiles so I can choose these profiles to intiaite a scan like I do when choosing simplex or duplex?

4. Note: Fijitsu has a great website promoting their products but for the life of me, I can't find a link to a community support site for support. Also, I would like to be able to use an online chat service when I have problems to ask questions. Is there such a service and where do I find it?

5. As mentioned in the title of the question, I notice that my Profile Management option on the tray icon is greyed out. Also, when I open Scansnap organizer all the options to scan to Evernote or to Dropbox are all greyed out. Why? How do I get these options back?

Thank you everyone for whatever help you can give me.

>> ย How do I set up the scanner so it KNOWS this is a photo needs to be treated differently than a document? ย  <<ย  ย the scanner does NOT know the difference - all scans are essentiallty pictures !
however, some scanners softwares allow you to group all pictures from 1 scan ย - or separate them as needed; if the soft does not give options, you should do it manually - or make a Macro ย  to do what you want

thanks for the comment. I use Scan snap organizer software to do the scan. it produces a pdf. then when I view the pdf I have the option of dragging the pdf page of the photo to a picture folder. When I do that it produces a jpg of the picture. ย There must be a way of automating this process. Is it buried in the software or do I need to set up a macro?

i don't use ย Scan snap organizer - so i cannot comment on it.
but you can alsways make a Macro, to do it for you

That's a great idea. I've been participating in the "Test the new EE site" project and recollect that someone filed a bug on this issue. Regards, Joe

A laptop or notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use. Although originally there was a distinction between laptops and notebooks, the former being bigger and heavier than the latter, there is often no longer any difference. Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, such as at work, in education, and for personal multimedia. A laptop combines the components, inputs, outputs and capabilities of a desktop computer, including the display screen, speakers, a keyboard, and pointing devices (such as a touchpad or trackpad) into a single unit. The device can be powered either from a rechargeable battery or by mains electricity from an AC adapter.
