SBS 2011 Exchange backups failing using Backup Exec

Hi Peeps

I am having a major issue performing Exchange Backup on an SBS2011 Server running on a VMWare host. Windows is fully service packed. Exchange Server 2010 is also updated to lated SP's and rollups.
Backup Exec is version 2010R2 with all its massive number or updates.
Problem...
Created a scheduled Exchange backup with the following settings.
*Device: Backup to Disk (Netgear NAS Drive)
*Append to Media, overwrite if no appendable media in available.
*Selection: Microsoft Information store
*Backup Method: Full Database & Logs (Flush committed logs)
*Compression: Hardware if available
*Verify after backup completes
*Using Advanced Open File Option and backup Exec selects open file technology.

The backup would start and after about 20min it will fail with error.

BackupV-79-57344-65233 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Store\Public Folder Database 1740598750". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
Writer Name: Exchange Server, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-15F7-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7}, Last error: The VSS Writer timed out (0x800423f2), State: Failed during freeze operation (9)

- vssadmin list writers show MS Exchange Writer Sate (9) Failed after failed backup and I have to restart Exchange Information store to get writer backup to stable.
Re-running the backup still failed and sets writer back to failed again.
- I have rebooted the server many times
- I have run a vss fix using the following scrips

BackupExec usually creates a VSS Snapshot of the Exchange databases onto the C:\ volume. Do you have enough room there for a full snapshot (copy, technically) on the C:\ drive?

Also check this out: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH209938

IF you see ANY of these errors in the Event Viewer: Application logs please post them here after you take out / change any sensitive data.

ASKER

have at least 75gb free on system drive. but mind you the clients exchange database is 100gb. How much space does the snapshot consume?
