Drill bit to bore hole for rj45 connecter through wall

Say, drill bit to bore hole for rj45 connecter through wall required.
The connector is connected to the cable. Would a 12" drill bit do?

Are you asking if a 12-inch bit would be a large enough diameter to fit an RJ45 connector through?
do you mean by 12 MM or 12 Inch? How many cable do you want to through wall?
I ask because 12-inch bit = obviously, yes.

if you were referring to 1/2-inch, not quite big enough...could fit through, but would take some force and probably damage the connector.  you would be better off with a 5/8-inch bit.

an RJ45 measures 13 mm across , so a 12 mm drill is too small -i would use a 15 mm drill, in order to have some space

RJ45 is  8P8C Connector having 21.46x11.68x8.30 mm (LengthxWidthxHeight). So, as per standard size we need to drill with 12MM drillbit. After doing 12MM hole you can get through the wall. Now depend on wall size. you need use long Masonry Drill.

Best of Luck.

Am I the only one who thinks drilling mouse-sized holes in your walls is *maybe* a bad idea?
A crimping tool is $10, plus $1 a bag of 10 RJ45 connectors.
And you don't even have to search the internet on how to align the colored wires, just keep the connector you cut.

Nobus good point. What is the diagonal then? What would be required? 13mm ?
I've a lot of fly leads of differing lengths to use up....

If I were to just put  a single cat 5 through and crimp a new connector what drill bit required please?
For a standard cat 5e cable a 6mm drill is enough. It fits and you don't have to fill the hole afterwards.

tx Dan Craciun
and Dhanesh Kansari agreed - tx.
shauwwin - iposted that in my very first POST 15mm, since it measures already 13 mm across !
Dhanesh - that is not what the author asked, and in fact - you don't know what material the wall is made off
many walls now are made of concrete, or panels
Its a brick wall....
well - if its 10" thick - just try it
i don't believe you'll get the connector tru
