WSUS - No client computers have ever contacted the server

Hi Experts

I've inherited a WSUS configuration where no clients have ever contacted the server.

WSUS - Version: 3.2.7600.226
OS - Server 2008 R2 Standard

WSUS is installed on an application server (not a DC). Updates have downloaded successfully and the server has groups configured for "PC" and "Server", however no computer has ever checked in.

GP Is configured as follows;

Client PCs
- Download and schedule the install
- Microsoft update location; http://<server>:8530
- Client side targetting enabled, group = PC

- Download and notify
- Microsoft update location; http://<server>:8530
- Client side targetting enabled, group = Server

I've check gpresult and the GPs are being applied to the clients.

Website access
If I browse to http://:server>:8530 from itself or anywhere else on the network I get nothing (no authentication errors, nothing)

However if I browse to http://<server>:8530/iuident.cab from itself or anywhere on the network I am prompted to download the file

Browsing to these sites produce nothing;

I discovered that the Windows firewall was turned off. This has been put back on with an inbound exception for port 8530 put in but no change.
