asked on

Web font serves, Example Google fonts vrs Typecast.com etc

Hello

I am working on a website where my client wants to consider some webfonts.

What are you opinions on the various font services, such as typecast.com, fonts.com, google fonts, etc.

I am interesting in mainly speed.  I don't want the fonts slowing down the site.

Also I assume that if the font is delayed for a period of time that my site's default fonts would step in and replace the delayed web fonts???  Or is that not the case.

I look forward to your opinions and discussions on this and will split the points.

Thanks!

good point  COBO.

If the font won't load, for example, for disabled, will at least the default font load instead?    It may not look as "pretty" but will the default font (arial etc)  at least be available for disabled, etc?

Rowby
Yes, you can either set the default font to use in the declaration or let the browser use its default.

{ font-family: mywebfont, Arial; }

Thanks all,

I have all the expert info I need now to decide about web fonts, depending on the client and the site(s).
