Google Drive Duplicate Folders

I have Google Drive installed on two computers:  Dell Desktop and HP Laptop.  Both have Windows 7.  It has 307GB, 57,682 files and 6,927 folders.

I just installed Google Drive about a month ago.  I started small and started adding large primary folders as I saw success.  With my last batch for Folder X with 220GB size, I started to have the duplicate folder problems where the duplicate folders are marked with "(1)" after the folder name.

Using Karen's Directory Printer, I was able to analyze the duplicate folders in Excel.  Basically, about 34 primary folders and 147 sub folders are duplicated.

I believe my methodology with this last batch caused the problem:
1.  On HP Laptop, I turned off Google Drive
2.  On Dell Desktop, I copied Folder X from DropBox to Google Drive
3.  I waited until Google Cloud was synced.
4.  On HP Laptop, I then I copied Folder X from DropBox to Google Drive
5.  On HP Laptop, I turned on Google Drive to begin syncing the folders and files.
At this point, the replications began.

Attempted Fix
On HP Laptop, I decided to start from scratch:
   1.  I turned off Google drive
   2.  I removed the entire Google Drive ( all 307GB) - deleted this!  Yes, I have a backup!
   3.  I installed Google Drive again.
To my surprise, the replications continued.

Research
I researched this on Google.  I see that I can send an error report to Google Drive.  At the risk of sounding stupid, I am not sure which is the Google Drive menu on my Computer.  I tried holding the "Shift"  before opening Google Drive various ways.  None of this leads me to "Enable diagnostic mode"

How to send an error report to Google
Press the Shift key and open the Google Drive menu on your computer.
Select "Enable diagnostic mode."
Click Start logging.

Question
Regardless of how to report this to them, my larger problem is how do I fix this.  How do I consolidate my duplicate folders and eliminate duplicate files.  I can certainly do this with Second Copy doing one folder at a time.  Are there any quicker way of fixing this?  I guess I should consider myself lucky that I only have under 200 folder duplications.

Until I figure this out, I will use my backup and move my folders back to DropBox.

Thank you.

Hi erwin Jansen,

I have the latest version:  Version 1.15.6556.8063

Yes.  I see it now.  As you said, you have to "left-click the drive icon on the taskbar while holding the shift button..."
I was holding down the shift key while opening Google Drive with the right button.
Thank you.

Thomas
I have now scrubbed out all the duplication and moved everything back to DropBox.  I'll wait a while before I try Google Drive again.  Hopefully they'll get their kinks worked out.
