Cannot Ping Win 7 Domain PC.

Hello,

I've been fighting with this one for awhile on and off and am throwing in the towel.

Main problem:
Cannot ping PC.
When trying to scan WMI, reports back that RPC server is unavailable.
Cannot remotely adminster.

This is a Windows 7 Pro x64 system on a Domain.
It has network connectivity + internet connectivity.
It has a DHCP assigned IP.
It has an entry in DNS and NSLOOKUP resolved it both forward and reverse.
Windows Firewall is turned off on the machine.
RPC services are running.
Remote Desktop is configured and allowed.
I can access the Admin Share of the problem PC from any other PC on the network just fine.
I can ping any other network PC from the problem PC.

I also tried the following commands from an elevated command prompt:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Neither helped.

I'm at my wits end and DO NOT want to re-install this machine.  It's been like this since the LAST Fresh Install.  For all intents and purposes, it works just fine for the User, but since it has these background issues, I cannot remotely administer it  nor can my network inventory server scan and inventory it.

Tracert to the computer ip? How far does it get?

Ping from machine to your computer? Does it ping to you? What network devices are between you and the pc? Goes through a  switch, then router then switch again? Is it plugged into a hub? Is it wired or wirelessly connected?

Dameware and Teamviewer (personal or business class) can get around any firewall or other settings. They have trial ware online you can try.

Yes, it does ping to my machine.  Tracert from my PC to the target PC fails on first hop: Destination host unreachable.

The PC is WIRED straight to the switch.  All PC's are wired directly to a 3-stack of Dell PowerConnect 5548 switches.  This is an internal Domain/Lan.

I will give those a try and report back.
That doesnt make sense on the tracert. It should at least hop to the switch out at the location (the one the pc is connected to) then drop off. Makes me think something on your pc might be stopping the ping and remote connection.
I can't ping the problem machine from any other PC/server either.
Are you getting any Trust errors on your DC for this machine?  That shouldn't prevent a ping or remote access, but it does create havoc to some machines on some domains.  After all you've gone through, I'd assume you've removed it and rejoined the domain.
Did I ask if you pinged by ip and name? Or just name?

Check for local firewall, antivirus as well.

try to execute this command on affected computer -

netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 enable

finally if nothing works, i would recommend to see if there is any duplicate host SPN for that computer registered in AD. (if you simply want to skip SPN checks, just re-name that computer to something that you are sure will not be a duplicate name, join it to domain and then test.)
Hi:

check if ipv6 is enabled and if it is, and you dont need it, disable it.

Log on the computer, ping localhost. Who answer?

Have you tried to reinstall tcp/ip stack?
I did ping by both name and IP.

Im good with it. Glad I got you going in the right direction.
None of the other suggestions fixed my problem.  I ended up fixing it on my own, however I chose 'multiple solution' to give credit to an expert that steered me in the right direction.
