need a player that can play .d and .i DVR files
I have a client (lawfirm) who needs to be able to view videos from a DVR. The files extracted are in the format of .d and .I files. the .d files are all around 135MB's while all the .I files are around 625KB's. They are paired up for every video
I'm told that the DVR owner says I need to download a "MCD PLAYER" . but everytime I believe I have one, its a hoax of a download which ends up downloading and installed scamware and crapware.
I then tried a 30 day trial of Player Manager and it didn't work either.
Currently I don't have the vendor of the DVR that the files came from.

Have you tried VLC player? There's a chance that it's supported - just open the software, click Media-> Open File and navigate to where you have your files saved. You might have to change the filter to "All Files."

Yes, VLC did not pick it up either

.d files should open with 7Zip among other apps.

.i files should open with Visual Studio

From what I understand about these .d and .I files - - The .d file contains the video data and the .i contains the index which includes the date and time information.
I tried to open the links above but the two PC's I tried to open to download, complained of malware on these sites. furthermore, I read that many DVR software programs that record to a hard drive has the player in the same folder where the video get downloaded to. I need to go back to the person who supplied the files to give me all the contents of that drive. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!

I certainly have no warning of malware when I open the file.org or fileinfo.com sites or the 7Zip site. These are all reliable sites which have been around for years.
I suggest you run antimalware/virus apps on your PC. Indeed, MCD PLAYER may have infected your PC.

Scott, Dan, you are correct. We went back to the folks who provided the files and asked for the entire folder the DVR recorded the files into. the player was in the folder. It Worked
Thanks!
