Hiring people through chat

I've been outsourcing for a while now and find the traditional job posting boards a bit challenging.  One of the difficulties is that when I need help, I often need it now and don't have the desire to keep coming back at it to meet all the conditions of the job board.

So today, the thought occurred to me that perhaps the best way to approach this is not by way of a a job board, but rather by chat. Like raising my hand as if to say "Is there anyone with wordpress background available to help right now"?

Assistance in finding such a chat room that isn't full of spam is greatly appreciated.

Current employees can be resourceful
Former  employees can be resourceful
Give them a chat

After: with influence one can offer reward for reference
Staff can spread word
Collect after some probationary period
Or half now/half later

I work from home mostly. I need to find chat boards where people are looking for short-term tasks to do?

Sounds like you are looking for a 24 hour online helpdesk that covers anything you might come up against. That would be an awful lot of skill sitting around hoping someone asks the right question
 I don't think anyone could afford to work there, or pay for what the service would cost. I'd suggest hiring permament staff who have hobbies and interests outside their normal field of work so you can utilise them as necessary, or putting up with a delay and getting a good answer from EE.

Internet has built in delays, India has mucho tel support following China/Taiwan

I'm just looking for a 24hr service that has people willing to do things. They do not need to be technical at all, just folks looking to do admin assistant stuff on a per task basis. Many exist, but I have yet to find a chat system that is really designed for that. Skype comes close but you can't broadcast a message without the users all seeing each other in a group chat, as well as the notes you might have for each.

An example might be a system that gives the following choices.

Available Chatters - These people become would become unavailable when a one-on-one chat begins, or when they have accepted a project.

1. Browse Available Chatters - We have XX number of people waiting to be called upon for help in the following areas. Click on the one that suites your needs and begin chatting.

2. Broadcast To Available Chatters - Your message should contain your message about the help you are looking for.

It's hard to believe that doesn't exist.

That sounds like an online agency, but without the human employer element. I think it would suffer from trust issues. Picking a name from a list ypu wouldn't know about the competancy of the worket or their experience or trustworthiness. Can they do the task? Will they deliver on time, or at all if a better offer comes up? Will the work be up to standard, you'd have to hire someone else to check it.
The only hold you have over them is withholding payment, and a worker has no guarantee that you would use their work after saying it was unsatisfactory and not paying them. Working through an agency as an employer gets around those problems by holding contracts from both parties as well as providing a number of other services.

C: You wouldn't know about the competency of the worker or their experience or trustworthiness. Can they do the task? Will they deliver on time, or at all if a better offer comes up? Will the work be up to standard?  

A: You can test all that. If you hire someone, you are doing it somewhat site unseen in order to test them through the trial period.  Why not do that with a task, and then a bigger task.  It sure costs less.

C: You'd have to hire someone else to check it.  

A: Some things are easy to check. Start small.  Let the person start proving themselves.

A: It's no different than hiring someone to mow the lawn. It's contract labor. They perform or move on.  They can easily say, let's try something smaller, and work up.

If you are doing all the checking of credentials yourself you are losing time to resolve need, supposed value of chat vs alternatives (including EE).

Why not consider letting someone else do the vetting, the maintaining of ready available workers, arrangements:

Yeah, those are good places. GOOGLE FORMS has come a LONG way also so we built this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1dUzXS7RefgAEKVfimOmn-vhpUpjIUrs8dRFseKvAE0E/viewform.

It turns out that we tried this approach years ago and have some forms that are still in use. The problem we have had with the old style google forms is that you can't easily move stuff around, add, delete, or rename columns, but that has all changed.

Today, you can run an entire database in Google Docs and according to a recent you tube video using python, you can share it too with an even higher degree of granularity than what Google has built in.  It's amazing.
