Are major League gaming events walk on tournaments?
Hi
I have watched enough MLG video and am curious. I made the original PGL post-season!
Qualifying for a tournament the official way is only doable, it seems, by kiddies in a gaming household who do nothing else.
So, there are no walk-ons, - It is all qualification based?
I have read articles with a few mentions of on site paid entry to the tournament. Or some guy got to the quarterfinals, even though he was a non-qualified show up.
I cant find anything to confirm this.
If I show up at an MLG event, can I pay to compete? How much?
Thanks

Thanks,
At this MLG tournament page
There is a Starcraft II section
here
It says there is a 256 player open bracket where 4 players move on to the big show.
Can anyone confirm this?
At one of the recent Pro competitions, some dude in the final 8 or 16 came through as a shadow entry like this, I think. - He always does.
Maybe if I register in their premium thing, it tells me how to enter as a shadow player with no rank?
I am not a clown, I am always in top 1,2,3,4,5 on bronze ladder, for whatever that's worth. I don't play this all day. I don't have time to commit to being a global powerhouse on the global ladder. I'd like to do a shadow entry.
