mail merge in word to get picture link as image

I'm trying in Word '10 to do a mail merge, using an excel list which, among other fields, has a link to a picture online (which I'm provided through a form tool that converts uploaded images to a url by which I can access the uploaded image).  Any ideas on how I could do a mail merge doc which takes this link and actually places the image into my mail merged results?  I know it may be far-fetched, but alternative is to manually create the mail merge by auto-populating the text stuff, and then inserting one by one the appropriate images.  Even with this (which is theoretically workable, but LONG as a process), would involve lots of file naming and tracking that I don't want to do.

Any ideas?  Again, basic question is how to convert a url link to an image into an actual image that goes into the resulting doc.  Thanks in advance for any thoughts.  Word is the only thought that comes to mind, but possibly there's something in Adobe Pro forms or something.  Just don't know.

HI,

pls try

{ INCLUDEPICTURE { MERGEFIELD "Picture" } \* MERGEFORMAT }

thanks so much.  feels like the right direction.  only two issues:

- seems this is only for '02 and '03...do you happen to know if there is a way to do this in '10
- my url is not a local address, but an internet address...any idea how to apply this to that situation?

many thx.

It works as well in WD2010

for a Url  see example
 { INCLUDEPICTURE "http://blog.contextures.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/datavalcomboboxfix01.png" \* MERGEFORMAT }

HI

do not forget the ""

{ INCLUDEPICTURE "{ MERGEFIELD Url }" }

then in the letters you have to refresh the links with F9 and Shift-F9

seems to be working better (at least I get a picture), however:

- when I finish&merge/print, I get the same record over and over (both the picture field repeats, as well as the first and last name fields.
- I put in a 'next record' marker to try to overcome, but no luck

however

- when I do finish&merge/edit individual, it definitely shows me the individual record information (names and urls).

any ideas?

also, any way to have the pictures format down to the right size (maybe within a table structure?)

thx for the ongoing interest/help

Furthermore, even in the 'edit individual' file, when I try to print preview, I see it's the same information over and over, even though the field codes are clearly changing.

Without the files it will be quite difficult to say anything significant

not sure I understand the comment.  Do you mean you need the file of mail merge content?  If so, it's attached.

the word document would be useful as well, at least a dummy example

Hi,

You are nearly there

if you select the whole document with Ctrl-A and the F9 it should update all the images
