Need to move our domain controller and data to the cloud.

We have a domain controller that hosts most of our data. We currently have Microsoft 365 that provides our Hosted Exchange and they have 1TB of cloud space available for our use. We'd like to have Active Directory manage all of our users access and see that that feature is available in our Office 365 account.

Could anybody please share their experiences / concerns with this approach? Would we be better moving our domain controller over to Microsoft Azure and installing a VPN client such as LogMeIn Hamachi? There are alot of concerns that come to mind when considering moving our data to the cloud and management is hot to do so. I don't feel comfortable moving data to Google, unless anybody out there can convince me that security is good.

We'd like to be able to maintain the same level of security as we have with the server in the office with Active Directory and access permissions, etc... Any experience sharing and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

For consideration of accepting ID: 41710520 and ID: 40168543 as safeguards that form the secure customer experience in using O365 which is primary focus on the query.
