creative Powerpoint guru needed - wanting to create a light beam/strobe lighting effect
Hi experts
I am trying to create a strobe lighting effect. I want to create an effect like stage lights flickering down onto the stage.
I've kind of created the affect I'm after with some shapes and animation, but my shapes do not look like light beams!
Ideas on improvement are welcome. I'm particularly seeking guidance on a better style of shape/settings/affects to use to create the light beam affect.
Help!

All girls lol
I love power point and the more I learn the more I realize how much it can do why do we even need photo editors,
I'll have to practise how to do this in power point.
Echo_S your one savvy power point user ,,
you also helped me to learn how to put an image in a circle
cheers

Aw, I'm glad to know that my posts have been helpful.
Funny, I often use PowerPoint for things most people would do in Illustrator or Photoshop or other software because I can do it as well and faster in PowerPoint. It's often just a matter of what tool you know and are most comfortable with. I sure wish PowerPoint had better background removal, though! That's one thing I rarely use PowerPoint for.
And that image-in-a-circle thing? I was soooo excited to figure out that one! It's saved me SO much time!

Also, Fi69, you could use combine shapes and/or edit points to create a more perfect spotlight shape, but I thought the semicircle worked pretty well for the top -- especially for a quickie. I think that regardless of shape, the key is to use the semitransparent gradient to get the feel of the spotlight that's stronger near the source and more diffused as it gets farther away.

I was happy with the semi circle, and the person wanting it was happy with it! So I'm thrilled!
What's the image in a circle you girls are mentioning?

There's a link to it in my previous post. Here it is again: http://echosvoice.com/crop-circles-in-powerpoint/

Cool, thanks!
Yes power point doesn't have a magic wand , but does have an impressive selection of tools to modify images move to the front or behind. It's brilliant.
The good thing though with having an image editor like Photoshop or I have Paint shop pro, I can take an image I'm working in power point and copy and paste into my PSP and use the cut feature there then paste it back into Power Point.
The copy and paste also works with paint net which again comes in handy to add effects adjustments.
Working with these three tools can create some very cool stuff and only requires a bit ingenuity ;)

Thanks also Merete for your input which let me understand the way the lighting had to work and the shapes that needed to be created.
