Problem with SBSMonAcct - SBS2011

Hi All.

We are having an issue with the security centre on an SBS2011 server and we have traced it down initially to a problem with the SBS2011 SBSMonAcct user.

The user is disabled by default (Understand that's normal) however if we right click it in ADUC - Users - SBSUsers and click 'Enable Account' then we get an error message -

Windows cannot enable object SBSMonAcct because: An internal error occurred.

This seems to be part of an issue we working on resolving with this server (new build) in that the security centre in SBS2011 is showing a warning - Permission to security centre may not be granted on the client computer - (To all 54 clients !!!).

But please note - this is not what we are asking for help on - that may be later once we have resolved the SBSMonAcct issue - which we feel is related.

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated

Thank you and Regards
Andy

Are monitoring reports being produced?

ASKER

Hi Chris.

Yes they are but here's the strange thing. This issues was bought to my attention becuase the daily reports are not being received in email (external recipient) - although, to confirm - the reports ARE being produced.

If I run the report manually then the report IS received by email to an external email recipient.

I appreciate this is a seperate issue, but it's what lead me to this SBSMonAcct issue.
You might start here with the "Repair Monitoring and Reporting Features in Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard" guide from the Technet Library.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg680308.aspx

What is the latest Update Rollup for SBS 2011 you have installed?   You should be at UR4

Have you installed the SBS 2011 BPA?  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2673284  Make sure it gets updated to 1.5   Fix Everything it finds

I would also run the Fix My Network wizard in the SBS Console >  Network > Connectivity and let it repair everything it finds.

If you run the SBS Detailed report...what are you seeing if anything regarding the Monitoring Database?

No solution provided and SBSMonAcct error seems to have been a red-herring for the actual issue - NTDS corruption
