Sharepoint 2013 cross reporting

Is it possible to do any type of cross reporting of SharePoint site collections if they all reside on the same web application? For example if the project manager wants to capture all tasks associated with a single resource over multiple sites?

A Content Search Web Part should allow you to aggregate content from right across the application;
