Outlook 2010

I'm trying to search through my e-mails in outlook 2010 using the indexing service and it doesn't seem to work, it just keeps claiming that it is indexing thousands of e-mails, it says it's indexing over 30,000 items?

I checked the settings making sure it's only indexing my e-mail inbox and not archives or other files on the computer, I don't understand where it's getting 30,000 items from.

I tried deleting my profile and re-adding it but it is still indexing hours on end?

I'm using an exchange server...

Thank you,
