VMWare Shared Storage ISCSI issue

I have two hosts in my lab at home and studying to get my VCP5-DCV so created isci storage on server20008R2 to do some host and data storage migration to get comfortable with the process. Both my esxi hosts successfully connected to this iscsi target and i thought all was ok. I can't tell how quickly the shared storage goes down but when I get home from work the datastore which I created on this storage no longer exists. I then rescan storage adapters on but hosts and it will then show up.

I am pretty new at this and my troubleshooting skills are not ideal. Can someone provide some beginner steps when trying to find logs which may help figure out this problem? I am reading the VCP5 certification book and the troubleshooting steps were not much help. Thanks!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm afraid you will have to start looking through the /var/log/vmkernel.log to check what is occuring.
