Exchange 2010 in SBS 2011

Good Morning,

We have recently changed some domain MX records and naming servers for two domains that are on the same exchange server up until then everything worked ok, the reason for change is we needed to change the hosting around because one domain was using a no-ip.org host for its A Record for some reason while the other was configured via the domain host.

We have two domains I domain1.co.uk and domain2.co.uk (with domain 1 being the primary domain) from what I can see all mail is being received correctly on this domain by the internal users. domain2.co.uk is not receiving any e-mails whatsoever when I try and submit a test e-mail nothing is received and a bounce back is not received either although some further testing on Microsoft Remote Connectivity analyser suggests that this may be a relay error. domain2.co.uk has been working before as I have quite a few users using this domain to receive e-mails. From what I can see sending e-mails isn't a problem.

I would appreciate a really quick response on this as I'm completely at loss. I'm sure its something simple but I don't know what it is.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello,

Firstly, can you confirm the MX records are setup correctly?

Can you paste a copy of the bounce back onto here.

Hi David,

The MX Records are setup correctly. There is no bounce back at all on domain2.co.uk however when you send an e-mail to domain1.co.uk you get a relay success message.

Many Thanks,

Chris.

Can you confirm that you have Exchange configured to accept emails from Domain2?  And that the relevant users still have a domain2 address?

Is there anything in the Message Tracking logs to confirm that an email has been received?

Yes, domain2.co.uk is added as an Accepted authoritive domain. And E-Mail address policy has been configured to add the domain2 when a user account is added in SBS Console.

Hi David,

Many thanks for your help on this one, but it looks like mail has started coming through now after I messed around with the receive connector. The server is in need of a RAM upgrade and is slow so I'm thinking there's a lot of mail queued up to be delivered but the server is struggling to clear it through.

It would be worth checking the mail.que file if you haven't already and seeing how large it is.  If its in the hundreds of meg / GB then I would double check free disk space as well.

As for RAM, how much do you have?
