Windows 8 scheduled optimization defrag will not set
Hell I have a windows 8.1 system that the schedule optimization defrag will not set every time I try to turn it on it gives me a Windows couldnt save the optimization schedule error.... I am not sure why this is happening .... Any suggestions?
Can you please post the exact error message?
If you hit the Windows key + R, and type Services.msc, look for your Task Scheduler service. Is it running, and is it set to Automatic/Manual/Automatic (Delayed)? Also, while you're in there, check for the Disk Defragmenter service and ensure that it isn't disabled.

Are you running Disk Defrag as an administrator? Also, do you have admin privileges?
Problem is: Your User needs permission on the C:\WINDOWS\Tasks folder.
Resolution:
Grant your User full control permission to the C:\WINDOWS\Tasks folder.
