Using wildcard certificates on local domain

I have a Server 2012R2 environment with users connecting via RDS. I have a domain based wildcard cert (* but my internal machines are of the *.domainname.local. I've setup RDS with this domain based wildcard cert but when my users connect they get a warning about a non valid cert from the internal domain name. Is there a way to install the cert so that they no longer get the message about the invalid cert?

    Accepted Solution

You can do one of two things:
    1. You can export the root cert to all your users (via gpo if this is a domain based scenario)

    2. Bind RDS to the external name and use a third party wildcard certificate
