What is the purpose of the Mailbox Store.edb file on an Exchange 2010 server?
Hello,
I was wondering if somebody could describe for me the difference between the Mailbox Database xxxxxxxxx.edb database file and the Mailbox Store.edb file contained under the mailbox directory on the same Exchange 2010 server. The Mailbox database file is 145 GB in size while the Mailbox store is around 11 GB. I'm trying to figure out what is stored in each.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Hi Simon,
Yes it has today's date as modified. And when I check Database Copies in the EMC, I see two databases listed there:
- Mailbox Database xxxxxxxxxx
- Mailbox Store
And they are both mounted and active.
Thanks!

"Mailbox Store" isn't a file name that I recognise. That would therefore suggest it is either another database or an old database. It could be that one of your databases has been renamed, but the underlying database file was not.
If you look at the properties of the file - is the date recent?
Simon.
