I was wondering if SSRS can be used as a stand alone product - or do you need SQL Server Management studio Enterprise or Visual Studio?

    Accepted Solution

    SSRS is a separate service.
You need SQL Server (Database Engine) to run it.
You need SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) to manage SQL Server and you need Visual Studio Report Builder to build reports for SSRS.

But SSRS can run (and generate reports and service user requests) without SSMS or VS.
