Hi,

How can I go about deleting public folder calendar items that are older than 6 months and not re-occurring?

Download Microsoft PFDAVAdmin adminstration tool wil help to solve your
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22427
You can right click on the PF and click on Folder Permissions
to change the "owner" of the item or delete the item
