Hi there, I've just set up a DAG for our 2 mailbox servers and when I'm trying to add a database copy I'm getting the following error:

An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: An error occurred while trying to validate the specified database copy for possible activation. Error: Database copy 'SG-01' on Server 'mbx-01' component (HighAvailability) state is offline. If you need to activate this copy of the database, you can use Set-ServerComponentState -Component 'HighAvailability' -Status 'Active' and retry Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase. [Database: SG-01, Server: MBX-02]

MBX-01 & MBX-02 are our mailbox servers, SG-01 is the Storage Group

I've tried fixing the catalog files etc but just no luck at all and it is getting so frustrating now!

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks

First of all - try restarting Mailbox Store Service on both MBX servers.
Second - is the database you're trying to seed really online?
Where the database is active right now? From where and to where are you trying to seed it?
Does the 2nd server have same disk/folder structure?

Hi there, tried restarting both servers but no luck.

Yep both databases are online, there is a 200GB D drive on both MBX-01 and MBX-02 with the same folder structure etc.

D:\Databases\SG-01
D:\Databases\SG-02

SG-01 is active on MBX-01 and SG-02 is active on MBX-02, what I'm wanting to do is create copies of each on the opposite server.

This is what happens when I try to activate the database SG-01 on MBX-01.

I've checked the event log and It says this, not sure if this will help or not.

Database availability health check failed.
Database copy: SG-02
Redundancy count: 1

Error: There were database availability check failures for database 'SG-02' that may be lowering its availability. Availability Count: 1. Expected Availability Count: 2. Detailed error(s):

        mbx-01:
Database copy 'SG-02' on Server 'mbx-01' component (HighAvailability) state is offline. If you need to activate this copy of the database, you can use Set-ServerComponentState -Component 'HighAvailability' -Status 'Active' and retry Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase.

its okay I've figured it out, when I ran Get-ServerComponentState for MBX-01 all services were showing as inactive. I checked this and had to run

Set-ServerComponentState -Identity MBX-01 -Component ServerWideOffline -state Active -Requester Functional
and change the component for each service and then it is working fine now.

Thanks for your help though.
