PowerShell to backup Window 2012R2 server

Is it possible to write two power script such that one script will do a full backup on weekend and the other will  do the differential backup. Both script will send out an email.

Hi,

Since you're asking the question I guess you're not a scripter. It is possible, but not a good idea unless you have a superb reason.

The best solution is to use the Windows Backup feature in Server, which has a command line feature, using wbadmin.

In 2012 wbadmin also has PowerShell via the snapin.

For the email notification you can use the PowerShell cmdlet  Send-MailMessage. Combining all three: wbadmin + PowerShell snapin + PowerShell  Send-MailMessage will meet your needs.
