netapp snap drive

I am trying to find the way to snap mirror the net app lun. I want to automate this process.
Right now i use a script to take a snapshot every night and kick the snap mirror at that time.
Is there any other commercial tools available to automate this?

There are several solutions depending on what you are using this environment for.  Netapp SnapManager products can automate this for SQL, VMware,Sharepoint, Oracle.

Commvault also integrates with Netapp snapshots

http://www.commvault.com/simpana-software/features/snapshot-management/snapshot-integration

What type of data/application is associated with the LUN?

We have few VMs which is using snapdrive to attach to the lun (pass-through lun). The lus hosting sql and log files.
I am trying to failover the vms and its lun.

Ok..

So you would use two Netapp products

1.  Snapmanager for Virtual Infrastructure (SMVI)..there's also Hyper V and XenApp available which can do the quiesced VM snapshots and kick off snapmirror job afterwards

2.  Snapmanager for SQL (assuming MS SQL), this will also perform quiesced snapshots (flush logs if needed) and kick off snapmirror for the LUNs.

What model is your Netapp  and what licenses do you have?  If you have full license suite you have what you need, if not it depends on what you have but usually if you're licensed for snapdrive you have at least the protection pack which has snapmanager products included

Paulsolv.
We would not need smvi since we have a a commercial vm backup software which replicate the vm to dr site.
We only need to replicate the luc from the production to Dr and dr to production.
Do we need SMSQL?
I spoke to anetapp tech who suggested me to go for oncomand core package??

Protection Manager will do this for you as well.  The nice thing about using snapmanager for SQL is that it mounts the flexclones automatically and you can recover SQL server databases in minutes versus doing it manually.  Keep in mind that Snapmanager for SQL snapshots the LUNs (since they site outside fo the VM) and replicates the LUNs to the DR site when the backups are complete if desired.  If using straight out Protection Manager it does not have any insight into the application side of the environment.

i have no problem of snapmirroing into dr site. My problem is resycn the destinations to source.
Does protection/Snamanger does both way?

In short you can do this via Netapp system manager

https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1287556/html/GUID-B417116E-AE7F-4A8F-8B45-664691379284.html

But...in most cases that you would do a full DR the equipment at the source is destroyed so there is no source.  At that point you get new hardware and recreate the destination as the source and proceed as you would be setting up from scratch.

There may be power outage, this case the source storage is down rather than destroyed, this case we should be able to resycn back to original source the change which we made at the dr site?
