Hi,

I am looking for a good reliable nested set directory for WordPress (like Mosets Tree for Joomla), does anyone have any recommendations?

I am also looking for a Sphinx Search plugin for WordPress does anyone have any recommendations?

I am a programmer I am looking for something highly customizable that I can extend if needed that is well documented. I have looked online, but I find with plugins it is also good to get recommendations from other developers as there are a few good plugins and allot of substandard ones.

Okay.  I can't help you with the Sphinx stuff as I don't use it but for a WordPress-based directory, look into Connections:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/connections/
http://connections-pro.com/

It's both a free and paid plugin so you download the free version to get started and upgrade to paid if you think it fits the need.
