I'm new to drupal and I'm trying to make a simple content element that will rotate some text every 10 seconds or so.. I'm not 100% about the number of seconds but thats the general idea.

I've created a block with some text in it but I have no clue what to do next with it.  Can someone explain in a few sentences how it would be done?

I would use views slideshow for this. The slides don't have to be images and can be text. You would create each slide as a separate node.

great thanks I'll give it a try
You might want to create a content type, like text slideshow, and have the text for each slide be of this content type. Then when you set up the view, you would choose this content type as a filter. If you find creating the view hard to figure out, just ask, views have a learning curve!

@oliverpolden, I've installed the views slideshow module and the jquery cycle stuff as well.  At this point I'm looking at the screen blinking my eyes because I have no idea how to create a rotating text banner using this module.  The content position will be 'content top'

Could you give me a general list of steps?  I can't find anything that makes sense about this  on the web.

Thanks!
