IBM AS/400 Iseries Client Access print to light

Hello,

We have installed some Windows7 PCs, installed IBM Client Access V5R4 on them for display and printer emulation.  Our AS/400 is running V5R1M0.  We are printing to an HP Laserjet 2300D printer.  In the printer emulation, we have specified font 011-courier 10, and NO host print transform.  We are printing on regular 8 1/2" x 11" paper, and the user wants the print to be as large as possible.  The reports print landscape, and pretty large, but since moving to Windows 7 and Client Access V5R4, the print is very, very light, and the font may be just ever so slightly smaller.  The main problem is that it is so light, it looks like the printer is running out of toner, but it isn't.  I tried using a workstation customization file with this printer, specifying asciifnt=204 and fntwth=108 for cpicor  cpi=10, but that only created more problems, reports then print on legal paper, and the user has to press a button on the printer each time a report is sent to it.  Does anyone know how we can get our dark print back?

If your AS/400 runs V5R1, how did you get iSeries Access V5R4? But that's not necessarily relevant.

Are these basic SCS printer files?
What service level do you have on the PCs for iSeries Access?
Can we assume that otherwise the printer works fine?
Does a standard emulator print-screen function print okay on the printer?

I have no good idea how to fix it, but maybe general problem checking can get something going.

Hello Tom,

Well, we got our darker print and a little larger font size back by switching to BOSaNOVA emulation.  BOSaNOVA has more parameters for allowing control of the print than Client Access.  Thank you for reviewing our problem, and for suggesting a few things to look at.  I am going to close this post.
