Avaya Phones - Cisco switches

I have an Avaya phone system and just installed a new cisco switching network consisting of 45xx and 2960 Cisco switches.  They phones work fine over a standard VLAN setup.  Is there any way to get the functionality of the data port on the phone to automatically switch to the data vlan instead of just passing an IP of the voice vlan to the device on its data port.  I know that cisco phones and cisco switches do that and when the avaya phones were connected to avaya switches it worked but basically wanted to see if there is a way of interworking that with avaya phones and cisco switches?

I use Avaya phones with Cisco switches. You basically need to do tho things: turn on lldp, and then configure the voice vlan for each switch port. In this example the data vlan is 5 and the voice vlan is 10. You will need to reboot each phone after making the change. I normally do a shut/no shut on the ports to power cycle them.

conf t
! enable lldp (link layer discovery protocol)
lldp run

int range f0/1-48
! specify the VLAN for VoIP phones
switchport voice vlan 10
switchport access vlan 5

! show lldp devices
#show lldp neighbors

Ok, great. I will give that a try.  Can cdp and lldp be enabled at same time?  Also do you use the auto qos as well with the avaya phones?

I run CDL and LLDP concurrently. I don't use auto qos on the Cisco. The Avaya phones automatically DSCP mark the voice traffic as EF, and I believe they mark the control traffic as well. As long as your switches and routers accept the marking you should be fine.
