I have ipad 2 , it is giving me this message "this ipad is not able to complete the activation process and needs to be replaced " any solution?

Since it is an iPad 2, it is obviously not new or under warranty of any kind (also assuming that there is no data that needs to backed up).

I guess my first step would be to use DFU mode and reset the device to a clean factory image.

First make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes on your computer.

To enter DFU mode,

1.

Plug your iPad into your computer.

2.

Turn off the device.

3.

Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.

4.

Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.

5.

Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.

6.

After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

iTunes should now give you the opportunity to restore your device to factory defaults / reset (not sure of the exact verbiage).
