Appointment application

Hi,

Not so much a question but looking for an approach.

I have to create an online appointment booking application. Something fairly basic.

A user is presented with a list of available consultation slots, can select the time sign up and then confirm the appointment.

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do this without re-inventing the wheel and writing my own booking system. I imagine there must be a whole host of other ways to record appointments. I've briefly looked at the google calendar api but not sure if this will do every thing I need or if there are pitfalls that I'm missing.

I'll be using node as the platform.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
