How Do You Start JavaScript On MVC Page Load?

I need to start JavaScript on MVC page load.

Here is my code:
<script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function () {
        //called when the document is ready
        alert('Page Load!')
    });
</script>

It is not working.

Thanks,

Dan

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Uhh, OK.  Maybe it would be best to do that :-)

You can copy the code I posted and install it on your server.  When you run it you will see that it works as expected.
