I am building a sharepoint 2013 site and would like to be able to search real time for users in my active directory returning their name, position, phone number, picture, etc.. could someone help me build the crawler or suggest a best practice? Thanks.

Could we go over the step by step on the phone? I can call you when you are available.

It is extremely simple and if you want I can do the step by step instructions but it all depends on how you would like to setup the service my personal preference is powershell cause I have control of the database name and location minus the ridiculous guid that follows using the builtin creation.
This will import your AD and allows you to setup what attributes you would like to capture.
