I wanted to know if it is possible to use the list() function in Filemaker to display the returned items in the list with a leading sequential numbering. For example:
List (customer::orders)
Result desired:
1. Apples
2. Oranges
3. Lemons
4. Lettuce

There are several ways to go about this but in the example file attached, I've used a very powerful Custom Function called CustomList( ) available at: http://www.briandunning.com/cf/868 As with all Custom Functions it requires FileMaker Advanced to install.

Using the CustomList( Start ; End ; Function ) function I created the following calculation:

CustomList ( 1 ; ValueCount( List( NumberedList::Fruit ) ) ; "[n] & \". \" & GetValue( List( NumberedList::Fruit ) ; [n] )" )

It's also quite possible to create a simple recursive calculation using the Let() function to do the same thing.
