I had a mac mini that had 2 monitors attached to it.  An HDMI one and a another older monitor that I plugged into the video port.  This worked fine.  I was able to click on downloads and they would show up on the first main screen.  I upgraded to a new mac mini 2 days ago.  Both monitors work fine and I am using them as what I believe is extended display.  But now when I download something or when I sometimes open a program it opens up on the other monitor that is extended.  It probably is supposed to do this but I am wondering why my old mac mini would never open anything up on the 2nd monitor that is extended unless I dragged a window over to it.  That is what I want the new mac mini and monitors to do.

Could be the browser settings mkramer777
Could be the newer version has more up to date features?
Could also be it is automatically opening to the primary monitor the one on the video card , what is marked as primary in your display settings
I'd also check in the settings of the browser what to do with downloading.
Personally I have my browsers set to never to run once downloaded.
    Check this if it helps
