From a previous thread, an expert said that this curl command would pass credentials to a web service

curl -u username:password

My question is what kind of credentials, would this be SAML, kerberos, etc

Thanks

the -u is passing the credentials for the basic authentication:

if you need NTLM you can use:
curl --ntlm --user username:password http://example.com
